Dave, saw your reply on Adobe online. Appreciate your time and effort. Looked into your impressive background, even started saving some of your online help guides. My background is similar to yours, but you have more of technical programming side than I have. My strong points are in project design and content development. When I finish redeveloping my thesis project in Flash, I'll send you a link after I get it posted online. Thanks again, Steve

NSurveyor,

I'm looking forward to the book myself!

As it turns out, I live in Virginia. Internet being what it is, though, the Flash world is small indeed (as is any other online community).

Just curious... you live in MA, right? Because I know Chris lives in Massachusetts, as do I... A simple anywho.com search said yes, but you never know how many David Stillers are out there...

It's a small Flash world, isn't it? :)

Ah, thanks for the kind words, NSurveyor! That means a lot.

I've been unusually busy in the past several weeks, and the Community MX article is part of the reason for that. I have another article due any day now on another well-known site, so stay tuned. :)

As for the book deal ... you heard right. Chris Georgenes asked me to contribute to his forthcoming Flash book, to be published this year (or early next) by Focal Press. He and I have done a lot of work together, and we have a terrific business and personal relationship, so a collaboration like this makes good sense. As you can imagine from his work, this book will focus on character design, animation, and Chris’s usual eye-catching shenanigans. At least one chapter will concentrate on ActionScript, so that (and any other AS content) will come from me. Plus, there'll be a CD-ROM in the back with his sample files and a handful of my Flash Extensions. I'm very excited about the project and flattered that Chris invited me to add my two cents. ;)

Very comprehensive, and useful... if only I had a hold of this article when I first started learning ActionScript. And I'm proud to say without the ActionScript 2.0 Language Reference, I wouldn't have gotten far in ActionScripting, or maybe nowhere at all. Keep up the good word.

I hear your coauthoring a book with Chris Georgens? When's it coming out... any details you can share with the rest of the world? :)
