First Stirrings of ActionScript 3.0

General

Just wanted to drop a quick note and mention that new content is coming soon.  :)   Last week’s hiatus was occasioned by my first serious toe-dipping into the comparatively deep end of the pool, ActionScript 3.0.  I’ve also been preparing for Flashforward — less than two weeks away! — by putting together business cards and t-shirt designs in order to advertise my services

I’ve started another Developer Center article for Adobe.com.  This one concerns cue points for external MP3 files (actually, for any audio playable by the Sound class; internal audio might not be MP3).  The article began as a tutorial for a custom SoundSync class, which extends Sound.  My editor suggested I write the article as a migration piece:  start in ActionScript 2.0, then show how to translate the same solution into ActionScript 3.0 — something that works both in the Flash Professional 9 ActionScript 3.0 Preview and Flex Builder 2.

I knew I would be getting into AS3 sooner or later, so I decided to take it on.  I managed to produce reasonably airtight code in both languages; now it’s time to recount my odyssey.  I’ll link to the article, of course, when it’s done.  In the mean time, I’ll be back on track here soon.
